Pakistani Soldiers Wounded in New Kashmir Confrontation With India

LoC Firing

Two Pakistani soldiers were wounded in an exchange of fire with Indian troops along the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir in the latest flare-up of tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, officials on both sides said Wednesday.

The shooting came just hours after India accused Pakistani forces of killing five Indian soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir in a incident that threatened to derail repeatedly stalled peace talks.

A Pakistani military official blamed “unprovoked Indian firing” for injuries to the Pakistanis on Tuesday afternoon and said that senior army commanders on both sides had spoken over a special hotline.

Pakistan Army DG MO (director general of military operations) strongly and categorically rejected Indian allegations of LoC violation by Pakistani troops,” said the official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss operational issues with the press.

A senior Indian army officer in northern Kashmir said two Pakistani soldiers had been wounded – or possibly killed – in an exchange of machinegun fire in Kamalkot Uri sector in northern Kashmir around midday on Tuesday.

He said Pakistani troops had opened fire and Indian forces had retaliated.

The tit-for-tat violence is threatening to derail the resumption of peace talks between the two countries.

Pakistan has proposed a high-level meeting with Indian officials to restart the process. They were meant to resume earlier this year but were suspended after similar violence broke out in Kashmir.

New Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif made improving trade with India a central plank of his campaign. But with elections looming in India, many are questioning whether the incumbent government can make concessions without being painted as weak by the opposition

  1. Indians provoking pakistan once again. Looks like somebody’s itching to start another war. I guess starting 3 previous wars plus provoking a short conflict isn’t enough for these war hungry freaks.

  2. They’re itching to start another war yet again b/c the denuclearization of pakistan through terrorist proxies is going too slow-and for all intents and purposes has failed-for the zionists and their indian stooges. Nor have they succeeded in fomenting a civil war. They’re now going back to the old approach they tried in 2008 except they’re taking their time with it now. No need to rush things. Just keep kill your soldiers and whatnot and blame it on pakistan all the while the propaganda machine in india is at full swing (when is it not?). After a while they can say enough is enough and attack, citing countless “Pakistani” provocations as justification. This format worked well for them in 1965 and 1999.
they probably think they have a better chance of denuclearizing pakistan by starting a war in which they think india will win and gain control of pakistan. I wonder if china suspects this is the case and that is why they’re being so aggressive lately. Losing pakistan would be a major blow to china.
