MANCHESTER (Dunya News) – Pakistan was in all sorts of trouble at the close of play on the second day of the second Test at Old Trafford as the visitors lost four wickets with a mere total of 57 runs on the board while chasing England s mammoth score of 589 in the first innings, reported Dunya News.
Woakes removed three Pakistani batsmen from the crease whereas Ben Stokes was the other wicket-taker for England. Shan Masood proved to be the top-scorer for Pakistan at the end of the day s play as he remained 30 not out. Opener Hafeez, veteran batter Younis Khan and night-watchman Rahat Ali got outcheaply. Skipper Misbah stood at the other end along with Masood.
Joe Root was England’s top-scorer in the first innings as he scored an individual total of 254 runs before being caught by Mohammad Hafeez off Wahab Riaz’s delivery. English skipper Alastair Cook also scored a ton.
With three wickets to his name, Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz was the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan whereas Mohammad Amir and Rahat Ali picked a couple of wickets each.
Leg-spinner Yasir Shah was unable to continue his terrific bowling form from the previous Test at Lord’s as he was able to pick only one wicket in the 54 overs he bowled while conceding 213 runs.
