Srinagar: A Lashkar-e-Tayyaba militant was killed in an encounter that followed attack on police patrol which left two cops injured in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.
A senior police official told GNS that late Monday evening militants fired upon Special Operation Group (SOG) party at Village Neelora, Litter in Pulwama injuring Constable Mohd Ashraf and SPO Arif Ahmad.
While both of them were rushed to hospital, reinforcement of Army’s 55 RR, CRPF and police were rushed to the spot and the entire area was cordoned off.
As the joint team of forces were zeroing in, militants hiding in the area attacked the party leading to fierce gunbattle. One LeT militant identified as Ashiq Hussain Lone Gul Mohd Lone of Heff Shirmal area of Zainpora ,Shopian has been killed so far.
The search operation in the area was going on when reports last came in.
