At least six people were killed and several injured when Border Security Force troopers fired at protesters in Jammu’s Ramban this morning.
The firing incident took place in Gool, some 50 kms from Ramban, after protesters reportedly beseiged the BSF camp of 76 Batallion. They were demanding action againt troopers who had forced their way into an Islamic seminary.
Several people were also injured in the incident.
Forces fired at the protesters killing six of them. Intial reports said that four people have died, but sources told Kashmir Dispatch that two more died while being taken to a hospital.
At least eight persons are reportedly injured.
People of the area alleged that BSF personnel forced their entry in to Darul Aloom at village Dharam, Gool some 25 Kilometers from district headquarter Ramban last night and they (BSF Personnel) attempted to desecrate the Holy book.
DC and SSP Ramban are camping at Dharam and are trying to pacify high tempers of agitated people.
