Gilani, Yasin urge people to stay away from sham polls

Srinagar, March 20 (KMS): The veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani and JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, appealed people to stay away from upcoming India-sponsored sham elections in Kashmir.

Syed Ali Gilani statements issued in Srinagar said that the sham polls in the territory were no alternative to the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people guaranteed by the Untied Nations and the international community.

He said that New Delhi was hoodwinking the world community by holding fake elections in the occupied territory, therefore, the people should completely boycott the polls process so that the international community could be conveyed that the people of Kashmir would not compromise on their birthright to self-determination.

Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar said that India and its puppet regime would not succeed in suppressing the Kashmiris’ voice for freedom through crackdowns on Hurriyet leaders and activists.

He called upon the world community to impress upon India to grant the people of Kashmir their inalienable right to self-determination, instead of staging election drama.
