Fawad Alam completes 10,000 runs in first-class cricket

KARACHI: Pakistan’s middle order batsman Fawad Alam on Sunday became second fastest player from Pakistan to complete 10,000 runs in first-class cricket.

Alam scored an unbeaten ton, 108 not-out, for SSGC vs UBL in Sialkot to reach this milestone in his career’s innings number 211.

He is second to Hanif Mohammad in list of Pakistani players reaching 10,000 first class runs in fewer innings. Hanif Mohammad reached this milestone in 189 innings.

Mohammad Yousaf (219) and Misbahul Haq (221) are behind Fawad Alam.

Alam, who has played three tests for Pakistan, has now the career first class average of 57.25* which is best by any Pakistani batsman.

He is now aiming to knock selection committee’s doors with his performances, saying that his FC record is evidence of his performance.

“I’m thankful to Allah for achieving the milestone of 10,000 runs and only being next to Hanif Mohammad,” he said while talking to Geo News.

“My job is to perform and I will continue doing it, and it is up to selectors to decide if they feel I’m eligible enough to be picked for the national team,” he added.

Meanwhile, Fawad Alam’s team mate at SSGC celebrated his achievement in traditional style by inviting a local band to the ground.
