COAS Bajwa says terrorism will be eliminated from Pakistan


RAWALPINDI: After assuming command of the Pakistan Army, Chief of Army Staff General (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid his first visit to field formations on Wednesday.

The COAS while speaking to troops on the occasion said that war against terrorism will continue with a focused approach and it will be taken to its logical conclusion, which is the total elimination of terrorism from our soil.

Paying tribute to the brave tribes, officers and men of the Pakistan Army, FC, Levies and police, General Qamar Javed Bajwa vowed that no terrorists of any hue will ever be allowed to come back.

He made it clear that ensuring the defence and security of Pakistan against external and internal threats will remain his ultimate objective, stressing the need for expediting pace of raising of new FC wings to enhance an effective Pak-Afghan border management.

Earlier, Gen Bajwa visited Corps Headquarters Peshawar and North Waziristan Agency. At the Corps HQ, the army chief was given a detailed briefing regarding the prevailing security situation in KP, FATA and Malakand Division.

The COAS was also briefed on the ongoing stabilization and combing operations, progress of return of TDPs and continuing development works.

Upon his arrival in Peshawar, Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa was received by Lt Gen Hidayat ur Rehman, Corps Comd XI Corps, who also accompanied him to North Waziristan.
