Al-Qaeda commander injured, wife, two children killed in Punjab raid


KAMALIA: Police on Thursday claimed to have injured a key figure of al-Qaeda during an operation conducted in collaboration with the intelligence agencies in Peer Mahal area.


The police said wife and two children of Habibur Rehman, operational commander of al-Qaeda, were killed in a gun-battle that erupted during the raid at a house.


The injured terrorist, who is also believed to be a close aide of Dr Usman, a key suspect in GHQ attack, has been shifted to a hospital for treatment.


The police said a two-year-old child of the terrorist remained unhurt during the exchange of fire.


Police officials said they raided the house in Pir Mahal Housing colony of Kamalia around 1:00 PM in search of wanted criminals.
