Afridi to take legal action against Miandad over fixing allegations

KARACHI: Flamboyant all-rounder and former captain Shahid Afridi has decided to initiate legal action against another former captain Javed Miandad after the latter accused him of match fixing.

The two former captains exchanged barbs on Sunday evening when Afridi, during talks with the media, said that Miandad has always spoken about money. Miandad reacted by accusing Afridi of throwing away matches.

“I challenge Afridi to swear upon his daughter and say that he didn’t sell Pakistan’s matches,” Miandad had said.

Sources close to Afridi have confirmed to this correspondent that Afridi has discussed the matter with his legal team and has decided to send Miandad a legal notice.

“Afridi and his lawyers, after thoroughly watching clips of Miandad’s interview, have agreed to send a legal notice to Miandad,” the source said.

“The notice will be sent on Thursday as offices will remain closed till Wednesday on account of 9th and 10th Muharram,” the source added.
