Here are five fitness apps which can help you reach your health and weight loss goals.

MyFitnessPal

This app lets you easily track your eating habits. You can scan a barcode or choose from a database of 5 million foods to help you track nutrition and calorie intake. It can sync with many different fitness trackers (Fitbit, Jawbone, Withings etc.) and other popular apps like Strava, RunKeeper and MapMyRun.

It’s available for free, with an optional premium subscription also available for $9.99 per month or $49.99 (approx. Rs. 1,500-52,000) per year.

JEFIT Workout

JEFIT is a personal trainer app which offers more than 1300 different exercises and has animations showing you how to do them. Standard fitness tracking is also available with fitness plans with a social aspect to them as well. You can sign up at its website to keep track of your stuff there.

Google Fit

Google Fit has been around for quite a while and was updated last year with added functionality. It offers you stats, several tracking features and complete integration with Android Wear. Compared with other apps its still pretty simple, but if the bare basics are what you need, then this fitness app has got you covered.

Jawbone UP

Available on: Android, iOS and Windows Phone

Like the others, this can also track the calories burned, amount of steps and distance traveled, and more. It offers smart coaching and gives you personalized feedback to motivate you to reach your exercise goals. UP can also track your mood aside from food and drink tracking. Connecting with third party apps is also possible such as MyFitnessPal, Strava, RunKeeper etc.

Jawbone UP wearable(s) is only required for sleep tracking, and you can use the rest of the app features without it. Its free to use as well.

Couch to 5K

Available on: Android and iOS

Couch to 5k is an app which will change you from a couch potato to a motivated runner which can do 5K (or 3.1 miles) runs. This app has a variety of tracking features and also lets you create music playlists to help motivate you to run. The app has options for zero to 10K, 5K to 10K and half marathon training if you need them.

The trial version for this app is available for free while the full version costs $1.60 (approx Rs. 200)
