Submitted by Aurangzeb on September 16, 2012 – 12:25 am4 Comments

Army allegedly screened anti-Islam film in north Kashmir’s Lolab after which hundreds of students clashed with government forces, the BBC reported on Friday. Forces resorted to baton charge and used teargas to disperse the protesters, the report said.

Protesters alleged that “an Indian army officer showed some videos in a school of Lolab in which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his relatives were mocked and insulted”.

“There was a function in Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Lolab organized by Army during which Major Hrithik of 15 Core RR showed a movie on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The principal and students objected on the content of the film and started protest against it,” the BBC quoted eyewitnesses as saying.

Army Spokesman refused to comment on the issue.

However, a senior police officer said they have seized the laptop and projector of army and have registered case against the major.

The Muslim world is already on boil over blasphemous “Innocence of Muslims” movie which gave led to deadly anti-American protests in the Middle East and other Muslim nations.

Today, Kashmir also witnessed massive protests against the blasphemous movie. The call for protests was given by senior resistance leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and several other religious organizations.

However, Tehelka reported: “In Kupwara, around 15 people were injured when police used force against the demonstrators. The Hollywood film, The Message, was screened during a youth employment and guidance exhibition organised by the Army at Lolab to educate and guide the youth on various employment avenues. However, while the first part of movie was being screened, the people mistook it for the controversial American movie and started protesting.”
