Gen. Kayani Slams Media Lies on Pakistan Army Budget Share

Submitted by Aurangzeb on February 13, 2012 – 8:54 pm12 Comments

Jacobabad – Pakistan’s army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has said that 18 percent of country’s total budget is allocated for armed forces while wrong facts and figures are quoted in TV talk shows in this regard. The figure often quoted in the media is around 60-70%, peddled by talk show hosts and journalists known for their anti-armed forces and extreme liberal views.

Speaking at the Shahbaz Airbase during a ceremony on Monday, the army chief said that out of 18 percent Pakistan Army actually recieves only 8 to 9 per cent budget.

This figure, taking into consideration the security situation in Pakistan as well as in its neighbourhood and the ongoing operations and military actions, is the bare minimum required to keep the armed forces functioning as a competent force.

Kayani also said that the army had not yet received Rs 1.5 billion owed to it in account of Coalition Support Fund which has been stopped for some time. Additionally, the Army has provided funds and support to the Frontier Constabulary (FC) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from its own coffers after the local administration’s refusal.

It is understood that the Pakistani military’s welfare foundations run various businesses worth tens of billions of dollars, ranging from street-corner petrol pumps to sprawling industrial plants. The shortfall of funds in army’s undisclosed budget is met by the profit these businesses turn over.

In the times of prophet (pbuh), they were poor people and they had no food and no luxuries, BUT they had swords in their homes. If we(people and media) has a little sense we should understand why is it necessary.

Army run Housing Schemes, AWT and other businesses, which help Army to run the expenditures. Many journalists get money from certain political parties to propagate their point and put down army. For example, 3 weeks ago Kamran Shahid’s show was to put down imran khan party image.

Trust me, this media is sold out. I have seen one of the speech of Orya Maqbool Jan in which media took off their mics because he talking which media didn’t want to show.

After this briefing from Mr. Kiyani, have you guys seen any newspaper/TV channel showing this??? NO… because media don’t want to show to the people of Pakistan.

Another thing, media is also part of dividing muslim ummah. Media has very few benefits as compared to many many negative impacts (but we all say media in Pakistan is free).

Kiani is the one of the most corrupt Army chief in pakistan’s history.
The only army chiefs who were not corrupt were General Jahangir Karamat and General Mirza Aslam Beg.

    • Shafaq Shaheen says:

All of our Generals have been in bed with the CIA, therefore We should not say, “Generals that were not courrupt”, because such Generals never existed. We should point out by saying: “The least corrupt of our Generals were…”

As for General Kayani, he was appointed by the most corrupt and despotic general of our time (Musharraf). As I look at the history of Pakistan, I realize that our democratic system was destroyed by the same institution that was created to defend it.

      What a shame!

Hats off to the Army Chief Gen Kiyani for being one of the most outstanding Military commanders ever in Pakistan’s history. He has shown his strategic foresight by planning and executing many an exercises and operational changes which were not put into effect since long. His foreplanning is visible by his policies which he has implemented in Army which are sufficient to take this brave force 10 years ahead comfortably in every field. Let us also not forget that despite being given every oppurtunity to take over this failed government including personal allegations against him, he kept cool and showed utmost maturity. He doesnt respond to the childish media allegations. Let us be proud of this ONE Pakistani who is honest and patriotic but not trigger-happy like his predecessor. We surely love you Gen Kayani.

Where people are suffering and living without basic facilities due to military junta’s direct and indirect rule over the country since early years of independence.
Where military personal call civilians as ‘bloody civilians’
Where military is engaged in running of banks, real estate business, industries and making big money.
Then it is understandable that they will treat the nation like pathetic beings. As they are doing.
Look how much money they make and one no can question them.
They killed and raped millions of Bengalis still they want to kill more.
There is no end to our misery unless the top cadre of army is make to obey rule of law and are also convicted for their sins commit against our nation.
