It is impossible to analyse the latest humiliating diplomatic bungle by Pakistan’s political and military leaderships simply because it defies logic. How can a legitimate and normal diplomatic exercise by a country turn …

Hero’s Words – Nation’s Voice

Our beloved Shahid Afridi has hit a big six representing 99% of Pakistani population. (I am generously sparing 1% of Wannabes, Pro US, liberal elites). In a talk show with Hamid Mir, Afridi came on front foot and hit a massive free style shot. On the social media the video of the program cut to size featuring Afridis talk spread like fire. And the response of the people, the likes and the hailing comments broke all records.

Shahid Afridi is neither a diplomat nor a politician. He is a common man like us. So there were no twists, no hypocrisy or sugar-coated selective-reply policy in his talk. Therefore, it was bound to touch the hearts of millions of Pakistanis who think in exactly the same way. He talked in the simplest available words, in his down-to-earth style and mentioned the (well-known to the world) use and dispose off policy and badmashi of the United States of America. He like millions of Pakistanis strongly negated the idea that we would die if America stops giving us their debilitating aid which is making us more and more crippled each day.

Is it Allah who is feeding us or America? He asks. Regretfully we have faith in dollars more than in Allah and the Kalima. If we do not recognise our enemy at this worst stage, when would we?

He also condemned the politicians talking all the time about provincialism and ethnic and linguistic divisions. If we are thrown into Iraq or Afghanistan like war situation, what benefit are these useless divisions and provincialism going to give us?

Just wondering after listening to the voice of the nation through the words of a hero, and seeing the appreciation he is getting on social media, if our leaders were to say the same words with such honesty and without hypocrisy, this nation would stand behind them as rock. Only when there is complete alignment of thoughts and ideas between a leader and a people, nations rise and become an unbeatable force.

You are with us or against us; and wed bomb you to Stone Age was the start of the story ten years ago. We opted to be with them as the threat was too big for us to handle. For these ten years, we have been killed, bombed and threatened. Our soldiers and policemen have lost their lives fighting someone elses war. Thousands of innocent civilians including women and children have died in terror attacks in Pakistan. Our hands are coated with blood of civilian deaths in Afghanistan, for which we supplied our bases to the US. Our truck and our drivers supply them all they require to sustain themselves in a war which only serves their interests and nobody elses. We are in a worse state than we were ten years ago. Our days are too unpredictable as a bomb blast might await us in a shopping centre, restaurant, school bus, or even a funeral. Our nights are full of terror as to what tomorrow holds for us. Whatever we had, is all slowly and painfully lost; no trade, no cricket, no investment, no tourism. And to make matters worse, we are dying of divisions, provincialism, disasters and epidemics. We are in Stone Age because of our wrong policies, spineless leadership, working as a paid ally for someone elses interest, and also because of betraying our interests and our brethren, the innocent civilians on either side of the border which we digested (as defined by the masters) as collateral damage.

With them or against them, Pakistan is struggling for survival each day. But do we know what the difference between the two situations is? We would have at least died with honour if we secured our interests and protected our people and by putting our full faith in God took a bold stance a decade ago.

If God is giving us another chance to disconnect ourselves with this criminal War of Terror we should avail it to the full or we might regret a missed opportunity. We should raise our hands and announce, For ten years we have given our most precious men to you, fed you, helped you sustain at the cost of thousands of innocent lives. Our children have grown in fear, breathing the gunpowder and waking up to deafening bomb blasts. And, all we have received are threats, mistrust and do more demands? We must opt out now.

All of us are answerable in the court of Allah for how and what we contribute to this world. But, people bearing the crowns of leadership are all the more accountable and I intend to remind them about Caliph Umer (R.A.)who was scared to be standing in front of Allah being questioned about a dog dying a preventable death under his rule. How can they answer about loss of thousands of innocent human lives and working only to secure their seats and this so called chaar din ki khudaee. Did they know its mortal? You and I are mortal? This world is mortal? Think!

      thanks for reminder.
Pakola must work on this and we must keep our wealth within the state.

      @ ali

      * ‘Pepsi’ has nothing to do with this article. Guys like you border on trivialism and emotionalism – so what if Pepsi is American and he is their brand ambassador ? Look at what the guy is saying. Rise above this please. It hurt to see your comments and the way you ridiculed a fantastic cricketer who dons the green shirt of Pakistan. Soch ke baat kiya karo Paiyyan !

      * Pepsi is a sponsor of the National Cricket Team. Many faces in Pakistan are promoting the soft drinks manufacturer. You and your like are the same people who will wear designer, jeans, shirts, sunglasses or a watch made by some American or Zionist and have the gall to criticise Afridi. Check the label on your shirt/trousers/shoes now ! :P

If Afridi decides to back Imran Khan Tehreek I Insaaf and goes to few rallies I can assure you that 50% f PAkistan votes will land in Imran Khan;s favour, this is how strong this Afridi Khan is… a legend!

“When we were a nation we didn’t have a country, now that we have a country we are not a nation.” Afridi

“We Muslims first then Pakistanis………baaki sub batein chord do yaar….” Afridi

    So brilliantly put.

    Ms. Ayesha,

Good job. Every common man literally thinks the same way. We really need to do Astaghfaar, an ijtimai Astaghfaar.

I literally believe that we should call Mullah Mohammad Omar and let him rule Pakistan. That will change the whole scenario. That will bring Khilafat e rashida system back. Afghan Taliban had already declared him Khalifa.

    Regards,

    Mubeen

Brilliant Afridi!! You said what I have been wanting to say. Yes we are divided among ethnicities. This is a curse to Pakistan. I think this is time that we hold the bull by the horn. The provincialism will only stop when we realize that it exists. I have noticed that people of Punjab to be very racist. It is my first hand experience. It is very very sad and hurting. In Army, politics, media, arts, other professions, majority of them are Punjabis. I have many time heard them say “oh chaa gaye hain punjabi”. When they are in powerful positions (like managers, hiring managers, directors or others), they ONLY hire their fellow Punjanbi. It has happened to me a number of times. Today I sent my resume to this fellow from Lahore. There was this position in his company. I asked him to ask the hiring manager some questions about the position. He talked to me once and now since 1 week he is not returning my calls, emails or SMS. He didn’t really have to do anything except for sending a quick email. This is the sad affairs that a fellow Pakistan can not help another Pakistani in need. I have man examples where my Punjabi managers always favored and supported my Punjabi coworkers.

I can tell you one thing. In the past there was a party called “Zamindarana party”. Its leaders were Tiwana and some punjabi Hindu. These people were dreaming of Independant Punjab. Their movement had a lot of support. Jinnah’s Pakistan movement didn’t find much supporters here initially. It was only after the death of Tiwana, then the strength of zamindarana party waned (I don’t know the causes). So they joined Pakistan movement. Little did we know what they had in their hearts. I believe that such groups were responsible for the death of Liaqat Ali Khan. Then slowly and gradually through machinations, Punjabi took the reins of government.

They use the argument of population that since they are bigger in number, they are most likely to be found everywhere. This is not true. Without the favouritism no group of people can take the hold of one profession. Look at Jews how they control the banking center. Only Jews are allowed to be at the very high command.

Although other provinces do the same thing but Punjabis are very “evangelist” about it.

So until we have “masabiat(racism)”, we can not think of being a united nation.

  • Dr K H Mian says:

What I utterly fail to understand is if 99% of Pakistanis have the same noble and patriotic sentiments and feelings as Shahid Afridi then why hasn’t the corrupt and puppet Government of Pakistan, undeniably at the orders and service of the enemy not friend USA, been toppled by the public and replaced by a more creditable and nationalistic Islamic Government as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan demands?

    • shafaq shaheen says:

I am suspicious of this thing we call the Pakistani Media. People in the media say this time and time again…”Pakistan key log kab jage gye”…”yeh quam kab bahir nikle gi”.

The fact of the matter is that people are brain washed into believe that we are not united and that we don’t care of our homeland. The truth is that every Pakistani is praying for Pakistan to survive through these turbulent times. I have also noticed that the people of Pakistan are more united now then ever. Let’s not let the media fool us into believing that we are not united.

  • gotya says:

What a statement from Afridi. We are muslim first and pakistanis later. M A Jinnah told exactly opposite. We are Pakistanis first and muslims, Hindus and Shas, Ahmadis later. Afridi means that only muslims are pakistanis and others living in Pakistan are not to be counted as Pakistanis. This is a difference between a professional cricketer and a statesman. Jinnah was a statesman not a money earning professional player like Afridi and Imran khan. There are muslims in lacs in India, Indonesia and Malayasia also. But they are not Pakistanis. If you are so threatened by America ( on the support of whom, General Aga Mohd Yahya khan and Tikka khan committed genocide of bengalis in east Pakistan 40 years back. Nixon supported and neglected this most wanton genocide of human history.), then come on and join India for protection.

  • The speech of Afridi is true representative of our mind and wishes. Love you Afridi.

The author seems to claim that 99% of Paks are basically insane. Seems about right. Everyone with any brains or opportunity leaves ” Allah’s Paradise” when they can.
Virtually every faith but Islam has been driven out of your country, What will be left in the land of the pure?
There really have been some improvements since the 7th Century. You should get out more.

I’ve decided to treat you like an Amerikan instead of a Hindustani, even though I get the impression that you are a Hindustani living somewhere in the US waiting for a green card (GCB = Green Card Brahmin). The main reason I’ve decided to treat you like an Amerikan is simply because there are enough Hindustanis on this site as it is, so I can abuse them whenever I want to vent my rage. As for you, I’m looking forward to using you as my Amerikan punchbag – you’re stupid and bigoted, so you fit the profile perfectly.

Not much to comment on regarding your post, GCB – your country was built on the blood of non-white slaves, so you should go easy when thinking up lectures on persecution.
