Russia Refuses Route For NATO Supplies
ISLAMABAD – Russia has formally conveyed to NATO that it would not allow its soil to be used for transporting NATO military supplies to Afghanistan while it (Russia) can only allow transportation of the non-military consignments across the border.
Credible diplomatic sources confided to TheNation that after unknown miscreants had torched more than three dozens NATO oil tankers in Quetta last Thursday, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation had formally contacted the Russian Government to discuss the option of using Russian land as transit route for the transportation of NATO cargoes to Afghanistan.
Russia has reportedly conveyed to NATO that it would only allow the transportation of non-military items like food, medicines, tents and other related usable commodities and that there was not even a slightest possibility for the NATO to transport military consignments to Afghanistan via Russia.
Sources believe that Russia’s adamant stance towards NATO military cargo is embedded with mistrust that thoroughly evolves around Russia-NATO relationship.
Russia has had been accusing NATO of uncalled for interference in Eastern Europe since long. NATO’s presumed military aid to Georgia, Ukraine and Estonia is strongly opposed by Russia.
The Organisation is reportedly instrumental in flaring up Russia over territory row with Georgia as the Western military alliance backs Georgia over its claim on South Ossetia, a disputed territory between Georgia and Russia. Back in 2008, Russian forces had bombarded Georgian cities Tbilisi and Gori and South Ossetian capital Tskhinvali, over the same dispute.

NATO will not be able to even get the non-military stuff through Russia. Russians would not allow any truck pass through their territory un-inspected by their customs officials. The duties, taxes, and transportation charges levied by Russians would leave the items many times more expensive after reaching Afghanistan than they currently are after going through Pakistan. But most crucial aspect of that much taunted and trumpeted supply route is the fact that it changes from water to land transportation and vice versa several times before it finally reaches to Northern Afghanistan. Logistics support even within Afghanistan to the south (where it is needed the most) is not a trivial matter either. Let the Westerners get a taste of that misadventure.
It is the high time for Pakistan to put restrictions of these supplies by defining quota for each country that wants logistics support passing through Pakistan. Each and every container must be inspected to ensure that it carries the declared items only. Then impose high duties and taxes on all these items separately for different countries (based on how those countries treat Pakistani exports to them). Never allow violations of granted quota and penalize heavily for such violations. Impose heavy transportation charges on these trucks because our roads and bridges were not designed to sustain such a heavy traffic. The result has been sever damage to our national infrastructure.
Pakistan is currently being taken for granted due to our silly leaders. One such coward has run away after he lost his grip on power and currently doing political stunts in Britain. The current criminals sitting in the power seats in Pakistan are acting like criminals defying the law and constitution. I think they have committed so many offenses against the constitution that they can be brought to their fate pretty soon. We all have read the news that how this ghaddar Zardari told foreigners that the killing of innocent Pakistanis in their drone attacks does not really bother him. What a shame on you beghait Zardari. As a president, you were suppose to act for security of each and every Pakistani. You disgraced filthy animal acted as a puppy in front of your foreign masters. Shame on you.
We need to get rid of these disgraced criminal cowards imposed on us by another disgraced dictator Musharraf.
This is very good news. I’ve been following the Northern Supply Route and found that the ships coming from the USA must reach the Baltic Sea and unload in Latvia. Latvia is one of those tiny states West of Russia at the top of the map.
The US doesn’t want to admit that it has lost. The government would rather make its population starve to send supplies that must be trans-shipped several times. This is pure insanity. Already a gallon of truck fuel delivered from the Pakistan route costs about US dollars 500. Imagine what it will cost if shipped through the NSR.
My heartfelt congratulations to anyone responsible for the torching of the supply trucks in Pakistan and the government’s closing of the road to the Kyber Pass.
Well thats why there is a rogue and thief president and other looters installed by US and the gang so they could get away with all the restrictions Pakistan may try to impose on NATO supplies.
Pakistan has played this wrong from day one. What we should have done is to treat each NATO country differently on our existing relationships. F.ex. Denmarks supplies should have been cut entierly after they misuded their free-speach card and offended the whole Muslim world and Pakistan with their unholy cartoons. More ever, we should have made sure that the NATO countries buy as much as possible from Pakistan itself (given what we produce) and just heavily taxed these same items for countries who is bot willing to buy Made in Pakistan.
But having an unqualified military dictator who could not see beyond his own nose we all paid with our blood instead of making this an opportunity like a real leader would have done. I guess he is laughing in his London appartment right now and saying: “You want another leader? Here you go, pick any in the long NRO list”.

Pakistan should take also stand like Russia or should atleaset Utilize the oportunity in the best intrest of Pakistan as thye have now the upper hand after hearing th news of russia refusal. Pakistan should place certain condition if they allow NATO to use th route. NATO have no option now……
