Blackwater Agents get Visas Through Pak Embassy in UAE
Dubai/islamabad—Over 50 foreign nationals, including various agents of notorious Blackwater security agency, now operating as XE, who earlier had been denied visas by Pakistani missions in their respective countries, have managed to get visas from Pakistan embassy and consulate in United Arab Emirates, well-placed sources in the foreign ministry said .
Sources wishing not to be named revealed that these foreign nationals, belonging to US, UK, and India, who have been issued visas by Pakistan embassy in Abu Dhabi, and consulate in Dubai, during last four months, had been denied visas by Pakistan embassies in Washington, London and New Delhi.
“ Over a dozen of US nationals, who have been issued visas by Pakistan embassy in UAE, had already been denied visas by our embassy in Washington on the suspicion of having links to Blackwater”, a source said.
These US nationals’ visa applications were rejected after the secret agencies refused to clear them, he added.
Ironically, the visas in question have been issued in clear contravention of a ban imposed on February 23, 2010, by the government barring all the Pakistani missions from issuing visa to any diplomat or common citizen outside his country of origin without prior permission from the interior and the defence ministries.
Foreign Office spokesman, Abdul Basit could not be reached to comment despite repeated attempts by media as he did not pick up his phone.
Foreign office sources claimed that theses visas had been issued on the directives of Khursheed Ahmad Junejo, a veteran PPP stalwart, and former nazim of Larkana, who were approached by Owais Muzzaffer alias Tappi, one of the closest aides of President Asif Ali Zardari.
Tappi is known as “Zardari’s brother and a family member “, in PPP circles for being a childhood friend of his. Tappi’s father was the business manager of Zardari family. He is allegedly involved in major transfers and postings, and award of contracts, especially in his home province, Sindh.—Online
